It's 8:09 a.m. and I've been working for more than an hour already today. I'm aiming to wrap things up shortly after lunch and then we are hitting the road today.
This might be our very first road trip that will involve a Texas destination and a hotel. We've driven on road trips before -- to Alabama a couple times, to St. Louis once, and to Kansas City a couple times. And we've done "road trips" (loosely defined) in Texas, like when our flight back to Dallas after Christmas had all kinds of weather issues and we ended up in Houston, where we rented a car and drove to Dallas.
But I don't think we have spent a single night in a hotel in Texas together (other than locally, and that's just been a couple times after something like the Italian Club gala when neither of us can drive home, so we stay in a hotel 10 miles from our house because for unknown reasons, that seems better than taking a cab). Never driving to a hotel in Texas and staying there, and then coming back home.
So today as soon as I'm done working, we are heading to Nacogdoches!
My local bestie and her husband are going, as well as one of her sisters, her parents, and we're all going there to meet up with her brother-in-law and niece who live in Nac.
The true destination is the blueberry festival!
She's raved about the blueberry pancakes there for years, so I'm super excited that it worked out that we get to go this year too.
I'll have to give a full report next week.
Mmmm, blueberries!
