Rain

Sunday, for the first time in over a month, we had rain.

And then again today!

I have completely lost my resolve to run in the rain I discovered today.  I planned to do 6 miles with friends this morning, but abandoned the plan when I woke up to a cold rain.  It hasn't been below 50 here in ages (not normal at all), but this morning was high 40s with rain and wind, and I swear, I didn't think it could be any colder.  I've been very spoiled by the mildest winter I think I've experienced in 15 years of living in Dallas.

I opted for an extra day of boot camp -- inside.  It's taper week, a few miles won't make a difference anyway I figure!

  1. Yeah, no need to stress over it :) This morning for me was in the teens with light winds, I got over-confident and underdressed and ended up a bit cold by the end ... oh well, I just want winter to be over even though this winter has been SO much milder than the last few!

I love running in the rain when it is warm, or in the nice fluffy snow. Cold rain, sleet or freezing rain? No thanks!

    1. I can't imagine running in the weather you get. But one of my fave parts of spring is those runs like you had -- over-confident and over-excited about it getting warmer, and ending up underdressed, it just means good temps are coming...

    2. That makes it sound so awesome and positive ... no, it was <10F with wind chill, and under-dressing for a ~90 minute, 10+ mile run meant that my arms got cold and then there was nothing to stop my hands from being cold ... so by the time I got home my hands were ice cubes that hurt as I warmed them up over the next 15 minutes. Ugh.

This morning, though ... it was ~36 and rainy - cold rain, sure. But it was warm enough that I was cozy (and drenched) the whole time. Aaaagh.

  2. Running in cold rain is the worst. If it starts raining while I'm out running, I usually don't mind. But waking up to pouring run always makes me not want to run. Having said that, you know I'm so jealous of your weather!

  3. It's been raining all day here and it feels so bitter cold. My space heater broke and my toes are freezing. I totally understand your lack of motivation. We've been fairly luck this winter with some really mild days. This weekend was in the 50s!
