Well deserved I am sure, and I'm sure they'll make you pay for it! :D<br /><br />I have a mixed relationship with titles - my early companies were so small that hierarchy didn't really matter much and they weren't big on titles (all engineers were just 'X Engineer' where X was the equipment division), yet I had a friend who worked at a place with 12 people that had 9 VPs, two admins and the president! haha.<br /><br />Job I was at for 15 years before Corning had ~2000+ people and therefore more structure. But in general the titles were pretty loose and general and transcended departments (all people of scientist level working in R&D were 'Research Scientist' with accompanying ranks, etc).<br /><br />Corning on the other hand ... well, aside from having ~50,000 employees and a massive global structure, there is much more focus on titles and all of that nonsense. I came in with 20 years experience and no clue how to deal with that stuff. After 10 years I am much better, but still focus on the 'deeper layers' - let someone else get the flashy title, I want to be the go-to guy for an entire new business division (which I now am!). But ...
